TUI, the UK's largest travel and holiday provider, has announced a new price match guarantee for its package holidays. This service could save travellers money if they find a lower price elsewhere within 72 hours of booking.
How the Price Match Works
According to TUI's website, once you book a holiday with them, they will match the price of any other package holiday that includes TUI flights, provided all details align and you notify them within 72 hours of booking. The claim must be made through a form on their site, and the terms and conditions must be met exactly, including identical flights and accommodation.
Impact on Summer Bookings
TUI recently reported a 10% decline in UK summer reservations, attributing this to customers delaying bookings and changing destinations. The company also faced a 61 million euro loss from the Iran conflict and hurricanes in Jamaica. Despite these challenges, TUI expects Spain, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, and Greece to be top summer destinations.
The Iran war cost TUI around 40 million euros after repatriating 5,000 passengers from cruise ships. Hurricanes in Jamaica added a 21 million euro hit. However, TUI's underlying loss improved to 111 million euros in the first half, compared to 156 million euros the previous year. The company targets a full-year operating profit of 1.1 to 1.4 billion euros.
CEO Sebastian Ebel expressed confidence in the second half, emphasizing TUI's commitment to security and quality in turbulent times.
