Jake Wynne, a 27-year-old from Aughton, is opening his first physical shop in Formby after his healthy meal-prep service True Plate sold more than 650 meals in just 18 minutes. The former fine-dining chef launched the service seven weeks ago and has seen demand surge from 40 orders in his first week to over 100 orders through Instagram promotion.
From fine dining to meal prep
Wynne, who grew up between Waterloo and Crosby, decided to work for himself after struggling with mental health issues. "I'd started to get a bit sick of high-end hospitality," he told the ECHO.
His gourmet meal-prep service combines fine-dining techniques with accessible healthy eating for Liverpool residents. The business offers five different meals weekly, using butcher-grade meat and homemade sauces without seed oils.
Pricing and new shop
Current pricing stands at £40 for five meals or £75 for ten meals, both with £2 delivery charges. From September, customers will be able to purchase meals directly from fridges at the new Formby high-street location.
The new premises will also serve coffee and matcha alongside the meal options.
