Krispy Kreme has unveiled a new doughnut inspired by the hit BBC show The Traitors, priced at £2.99 and available from September 28 for a limited time only.
The doughnut chain has teamed up with the TV show to launch a limited-edition sweet treat reflecting the programme's battle between Traitors and Faithfuls. The range follows recent Krispy Kreme collections themed around Pokémon and Friends, as the company continues to tap into major entertainment franchises.
The new doughnut features one of two surprise fillings hidden in the centre, mirroring the mystery and deception at the heart of the show. One centre is based on the scheming Traitors and contains a striking green filling beneath a layer of chocolate. The other celebrates the faithful contestants with a bright orange centre. Both feature a decorative chocolate-coated shield on top.
Availability and prize promotion
The special edition doughnut will be available in Krispy Kreme stores and selected supermarkets nationwide. Customers who purchase a four-pack of the special edition doughnuts are given the chance to win an exclusive Traitors merchandise bundle.
Fans who discover a golden coin sticker hidden inside their box will win the bundle. The prize package includes The Traitors quill pen, a plush keyring, a voucher to play The Traitors: Anywhere, a pack of The Traitors Chews, a "Traitor or Faithful" Yankee Candle and a themed Christmas card.
Celebrity edition build-up
Guy Meakin, president of Krispy Kreme UK & Ireland, said: "We are so excited to give fans their own immersive Traitors experience." He added: "With two new doughnuts featuring a delicious surprise inside, this collection is meant to be shared to form alliances or betrayals."
The launch comes as excitement builds for the latest celebrity edition of the show, with a new cast of famous faces set to enter the famous Scottish castle from October 1. The famous faces will tackle gruelling challenges and tense roundtables in a bid to follow season one’s much-loved Traitor, Alan Carr.
Among the stars joining host Claudia Winkleman for the upcoming season are comedian James Acaster, actor Bella Ramsey and presenter Romesh Ranganathan.
