On the Tom Ford website, Eau de Vetiver has pulled in two perfect five-star reviews. One shopper said: "A staple and signature fragrance in my collection. It's clean, fresh, long lasting and complexed the entire day. This can be a year round fragrance at anytime, IMO, as it's not offensive or too loud. I'm 44 and it's been in my collection for over 10 years and always a favourite."
A second shopper has been loyal to it for 13 years, buying five bottles in that time. They said: "I acquired this beautiful fragrance at the age of 22, and at 35, I have repurchased it over 5 times. It is my all time favourite perfume. Not only that it is refreshing, and performs well in its category of woody fragrances, but also enjoy a unique blend of ingredients - with vetiver being the evident note. If you want an uplifting day fragrance, that is not overwhelming, then this is the one."
It's pulled in even more reviews at Boots, with one shopper saying it brings in 'lovely comments'. They said: "This is a beautiful exquisite fresh scent that is fabulous for a gentleman who likes style & class . The smell is fresh with citrus and wood notes and will get lots of lovely comments."
At Boots there was a disappointed shopper who complained it wasn't as long lasting as they'd hoped. They said: "Perhaps its just my skin type but this fragrance is the shortest lasting EDP I have ever used. It smells lovely at first but within 2 hours their was not a trace of it left on me very disappointing."
Longevity and alternatives
This fragrance is an eau de toilette rather than an eau de parfum which means that it has a lower concentration of perfume in it. That said, perfume buffs on Fragrantica has overwhelmingly described it as having a 'moderate' longevity which typically means four to six hours. Some went as far as to describe it as 'eternal' however. Shoppers can get Grey Vetiver as an eau de parfum but it is more expensive, with an 100ml bottle costing £189.
One happy wife said that the fragrance was in its own league. She wrote: "Number one aftershave... EVER! My favourite aftershave for my hubby! This is one sexy scent, hope I can write that?
