Three much-loved Merseyside venues have confirmed they are closing their doors for good, with each announcement met by a wave of affectionate messages from regular customers.
Cheers Big Ears on Bold Street in Liverpool city centre has shut after four years of trading, having first opened in April 2022. The venue served Detroit-style pizza, small plates, sandwiches and cocktails, while its first-floor space was home to the interactive games area, Tops Dart Club.
Cheers Big Ears and Petit Café close
In an Instagram post shared on November 2, it was confirmed that both Cheers Big Ears and Tops Dart Club had closed as the site prepared for something new.
Petit Café on Lark Lane has also announced its closure less than three years after opening in April 2024, bringing its "little chapter" in South Liverpool to an end. The venue brought a taste of Paris to the area, serving wines, cheeses and cocktails, following the success of its original Berry Street site, which opened in 2017.
Lino's Restaurant to close on Christmas Day
In an Instagram post shared on November 1, the owners confirmed the closure but reassured customers that the Berry Street venue would remain open and a new tenant had already been lined up.
Lino's Restaurant, the popular family-run restaurant on Market Street in Hoylake, has announced it will close on Christmas Day 2026, ending 43 years of trading. First opened in 1983 by Lino and Barbara Galantini and their son Enrico, the restaurant has become a much-loved part of the community, with generations of customers visiting for its Mediterranean cuisine.
