A Tesco worker who sold a £45.5 million winning EuroMillions ticket has received a £61,000 bonus from the supermarket chain. Steph Lewis, an employee at the Newport store, sold the lucky dip ticket to customer Les Scadding, who later returned to check his numbers and discovered he had won the jackpot.
Ms Lewis, who was present when Mr Scadding realised he had won, described the moment as 'still a shock'. She said: 'I had £45 million in my hand. I could have done a runner but I'm a Christian and would never do that.'
This is not the first time Ms Lewis has been involved in a major lottery win. In 2007, she was working at the same Newport store when another customer won £8.3 million. Tesco confirmed that Ms Lewis received the bonus as part of its policy to reward staff who sell winning tickets.
