Tesco Launches £1.85 Potato Burger Rolls for Restaurant-Quality Burgers

Tesco has introduced a new product that the supermarket claims will enable customers to create restaurant-quality burgers at home. The Tesco Finest Potato Burger Rolls, priced at £1.85 for a pack of four, are now available in Tesco stores nationwide.

What Makes These Rolls Different?

Unlike traditional brioche or plain white buns, Tesco's Potato Burger Rolls are made from real mashed potato rather than potato flakes. According to Tesco, the natural starches in the mashed potato keep the buns light, fluffy, and moist, while remaining sturdy enough to hold burger patties, sauces, and toppings together. The supermarket describes the rolls as “soft, squishy and full of flavour,” inspired by the potato rolls used in popular burger chains such as Shake Shack and Supernova.

Tesco notes that these buns have three key attributes that set them apart: a fluffy texture, balanced flavour, and better burger support. The product is part of a broader launch of 22 new Finest bakery items.

Expert Recommendation

Jack Alderson, Tesco Bakery Product Development Manager, commented: “We’ve seen a huge rise in people making burgers at home thanks to TikTok and social media, where everyone wants to replicate the perfect, melt in the mouth, restaurant‑style burger.” He added: “To serve, I recommend brushing the top and bottom with a little butter, add in your burger and fillings, and then wrap it in some foil and gently squish it all together. The foil traps the steam with the heat helping to soften the bun, combining all the delicious flavours.”

Availability and Pricing

The Tesco Finest Potato Rolls are priced at £1.85 for a pack of four and are available at Tesco stores across the UK. The supermarket says the rolls will give “summer BBQs a major upgrade” while helping “customers recreate a restaurant-quality burger at home.” This launch reflects a growing trend of home cooks seeking to replicate popular restaurant-style burgers, driven by social media platforms like TikTok.
