Tesco has announced a major change to its Whoosh delivery charges, offering free delivery on orders exceeding £25 for selected World Cup matchdays. The promotion, confirmed in a Friday, July 10 statement, covers the next few World Cup game dates regardless of England's results.
Free Delivery Dates and Details
Starting Saturday, July 11, customers can enjoy free Whoosh delivery on orders over £25. The offer also applies all day on Wednesday, July 15, Sunday, July 19, and continuously from Monday, July 20 to Sunday, July 26. A Tesco spokesperson stated: 'Excitement is building across the country with customers enjoying the summer weather, hosting gatherings, and getting involved in the build up to England's crucial match.'
Last Sunday saw one of the busiest ever days for Tesco Whoosh deliveries, as customers used rapid grocery deliveries for the England game. The service delivers items from nearby branches in as little as 20 to 30 minutes.
Expected Sales and Demand
Ahead of England's match against Norway on Saturday, Tesco anticipates selling over 4 million packs of crisps and nuts, around 2.7 million lagers, over 1 million packs of barbecue meat, nearly 1.5 million packs of coleslaw and dip, and 800,000 packs of ice cubes. The spokesperson added: 'This is expected to be one of our busiest weekends this year for sales of barbecue food and drinks.'
England's quarter-final clash with Norway kicks off at 10pm UK time (5pm local in Kansas City). Norway, led by Erling Haaland with seven goals in four matches and Martin Odegaard, has reached the quarter-finals for the first time in their World Cup history.
