Martin Lewis Warns £17m in Tesco Clubcard Vouchers Expiring Soon

Martin Lewis's Money Saving Expert (MSE) has issued a warning to Tesco Clubcard holders: £17 million worth of vouchers will expire on May 31 at 11.59pm. The supermarket is urging customers to use or lose their reward points before the deadline.

Clubcard points can be converted into vouchers, which can be spent in-store or with over 100 Reward Partners, including restaurants like Pizza Express and Zizzi, where a £5 voucher can be worth up to £15. A minimum of 150 points is needed to claim a voucher, which can be done via the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app or online.

MSE has also highlighted a potential loophole to extend voucher validity, though it is technically prohibited under Tesco's terms and conditions. By using a small portion of a voucher (e.g., 50p from a £5 voucher) on a Reward Partner purchase or charity donation, the remaining balance is returned as a new voucher with a two-year expiry. However, Tesco can refuse orders if it suspects abuse of the system.

MSE tested the trick and confirmed it worked, but warned users they do so at their own risk. The extension must be done before the May 31 deadline, and each voucher must be handled individually.
