Tesco has confirmed that Christmas delivery slots will open to all customers at 6am on Thursday, 5 November. The supermarket is offering 60,000 more slots than last year, giving shoppers more opportunities to secure a festive food delivery before Christmas Day.
Customers will be able to book home deliveries and Click+Collect slots for December, with the busiest dates expected to be in high demand among those hoping to avoid a last-minute supermarket trip.
Early access for Delivery Saver customers
Tesco has already opened bookings for customers with an Anytime Delivery Saver or Click+Collect Delivery Saver plan. Those shoppers were given early access from 6am on Tuesday, 3 November, two days before everyone else.
From Thursday morning, all remaining customers, including those with an Off-Peak Delivery Saver plan, will be able to book.
Booking details and availability
Tesco's Christmas delivery and collection slots run from 20 December to 24 December, although availability will depend on where customers live. Christmas Eve deliveries will only be available in selected areas.
Shoppers can book through the Tesco website or app, where they can choose from the available dates and times. However, Tesco has warned that Christmas slots are limited and cannot be guaranteed. Customers may also be placed in an online waiting room when bookings open due to the number of people trying to secure a slot.
Order deadlines and Delivery Saver plans
Those planning to order from Tesco's Festive Food to Order range will need to finalise their purchases by 11.45pm on Monday, 14 December. For other groceries, shoppers can make changes to their orders until 11.45pm the day before their delivery.
Tesco's Delivery Saver service offers customers a way to reduce the cost of regular online shopping, with plans starting from £2.49 a month. The supermarket offers six and 12-month subscriptions, although the benefits depend on which plan customers choose.
The retailer announced its extra Christmas delivery slots in September, saying it wanted to give customers more flexibility when organising their festive shopping. Anyone hoping to secure a particular date, especially in the days leading up to Christmas, may want to check availability when bookings open on Thursday morning.
