Tesco has introduced four new limited edition items to its popular meal deal range, sparking mixed reactions among shoppers. The new additions include a Chicken Pepperoni and BBQ Sauce sandwich, a Salt and Pepper Chicken Wrap, a Jamaican Style Jerk Chicken sandwich, and a 'Marry Me' Chicken Wrap.
The Chicken Pepperoni and BBQ Sauce sandwich features barbecue sauce, chicken breast, pepperoni, and mild cheddar cheese in tomato bread. The Salt and Pepper Chicken Wrap contains chicken breast in a salt and pepper sauce, roasted pepper and onion, and spinach in a plain tortilla wrap. The Jamaican Style Jerk Chicken sandwich includes chicken breast, pickled vegetable slaw, mango chutney, jerk sauce, mayonnaise, and spinach in tomato bread. The 'Marry Me' Chicken Wrap is made with chicken breast, tomato, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, herb mayonnaise, marinated semi-dried tomato, and lettuce in a tomato tortilla wrap.
The meal deal, which typically costs £4.25 or £3.85 for Clubcard members, allows customers to choose a main, a drink, and a snack. The new items were first spotted by Instagram food account New Foods UK, which has 373,000 followers.
Shoppers have expressed both excitement and disappointment. One customer praised the Jerk Chicken sandwich as a 'nice combination', while another called the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wrap 'awful' with no flavour. A third shopper found the Chicken Pepperoni and BBQ Sauce sandwich lacking in chicken but 'not too bad'.
