Tesco launches 8p fuel discount offer at 600 UK petrol stations
Tesco 8p fuel discount offer at 600 UK petrol stations

Tesco has launched a new fuel discount scheme at approximately 600 petrol stations across the UK, giving drivers 8p off per litre. The offer runs until Sunday 18 October, with customers required to spend £60 or more in-store to receive a coupon.

How the fuel discount works

Shoppers who spend £60+ at Tesco by 18 October will receive a coupon for 8p off per litre of petrol or diesel at a Tesco filling station. The coupon can be redeemed until Sunday 25 October by scanning it at the petrol station till, meaning it cannot be used at pay-at-pump services.

The maximum discount per tank is £8, which is £2 less than when the offer ran in August. As the average person fills up 35 to 45 litres of fuel, most drivers will likely save between £2.80 and £3.60.

Participating stations and exclusions

Tesco says there are 500+ participating petrol stations. The deal excludes the Isle of Man, Tesco Express stores where Esso fuel is sold, unmanned petrol stations, and pay-at-pump services. Only one coupon can be used per transaction, and customers must spend more than £1 on fuel.

The coupon can be redeemed at participating Tesco-branded forecourts in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. A Tesco shop next to a forecourt does not automatically mean the coupon will work there, so customers should use Tesco's store finder to locate a Tesco Petrol Filling Station with a staffed kiosk.

What counts towards the £60 spend

The £60 minimum spend excludes lottery products, e-top ups, savings stamps, postage stamps, carrier bags, prescription medicines, infant milk formula, and purchases made at any café, tobacco kiosk, opticians, phone store, concessions, Travel Money, Tesco Bank, and Tesco Whoosh. Online grocery orders, Click & Collect orders, and Whoosh purchases do not qualify for the fuel coupon.

Prices have risen in recent months due to disruption in global markets caused by the US-Israeli conflict with Iran and Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine. The previous record high was 199.09p, set in June 2022 after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Even with this deal, Tesco may not be the cheapest place to fill up, so drivers are advised to use free tools such as PetrolPrices.com to compare local fuel prices.
