Target has opened six new stores across the US as part of its plan to add 30 locations by the end of the year. The new stores are in Buckeye and Casa Grande, Arizona; University City, Missouri; Myrtle Grove and Selma, North Carolina; and Jersey City, New Jersey.
Five of the six stores exceed Target's typical 125,000-square-foot format, with the St. Louis location reaching about 149,000 square feet. The larger layouts allow for expanded product selection, larger grocery areas, and improved online order fulfilment and same-day pickup services.
The expansion is part of a broader goal to add over 300 new stores by 2035. Target already has a location within 10 miles of most US households, and the next phase includes 48 communities across 28 states. Texas will see the most growth with six new stores, followed by Florida with five and Utah with four.
Target is also updating more than 130 existing stores to better integrate in-store shopping with digital services. Changes include bigger grocery areas, updated layouts, more space for pickup and returns, and upgraded amenities and energy-efficient systems.
