Superdrug opens new Altrincham store with 12 new jobs

Superdrug has opened its latest Greater Manchester store in Altrincham's Stamford Quarter development. The new outlet, at 44-46 George Street, fills a unit that has stood empty since River Island closed in January.

The opening has created 12 new permanent roles at the 4,285 sq ft space. The retailer continues to expand its physical retail presence, with plans to open 30 new stores in 2026.

Extended product range and services

The store offers health and beauty products, everyday toiletries, beauty treatments and luxury fragrances. It features an extended product range, including a larger selection of cosmetics, an expanded range of premium fragrances and a wider choice of beauty services, including a new nail and brow bar.

At the heart of the store is a dedicated Beauty Studio, offering treatments such as brow shaping, nail treatments and piercings.

Own-brand and exclusive brands

The store also stocks Superdrug's own-brand ranges, including Studio London, B. Skin, Me+, Vitamin E and Optimum, alongside exclusive and international beauty and personal care brands.

Local employment and community impact

Clare Jennings, Property Director at Superdrug, said: "We're delighted to announce the opening of our brand-new store in Altrincham. This exciting new opening strengthens Superdrug's presence in the area and gives customers access to an extensive range of health and beauty products and services, alongside an enhanced shopping experience."

Jennings added: "We're confident the local community will enjoy everything the new store has to offer, from leading health and beauty brands and a premium fragrance selection to our dedicated Beauty Studio, offering a range of professional treatments. The new store has also created valuable local employment opportunities, supporting the local economy while providing new career opportunities for people in the area."

The arrival of Superdrug builds on a number of new openings in Altrincham's Stamford Quarter, particularly in the health and beauty sector. In 2024, LOOKFANTASTIC opened its first concept store, while Rituals also opened in the town last year.
