The Townhouse Bar in St Helens has been handed over to a new team, allowing its current leader, Brad Garrity, to dedicate more time to his personal life and family. After 14 years behind the bar, Brad has passed the Duke Street business on to new proprietors Natalie and Ste.
Seven years at the helm
In a heartfelt statement issued earlier in the month, Brad said: "After an amazing seven years creating, building and owning The Townhouse, I’ve made the decision that I’m ready for a new chapter in my life, and to focus on enjoying more time for myself and with my family."
He added: "I couldn’t have asked for better years holding the reins. 14 years in total being behind that bar. Over those years, I’ve met some of the most genuine, kind and caring people. People who started as customers and are now friends."
Thanks and a new chapter
Brad thanked his family and partner for their "love patience and support over the years" during late nights and sacrifices. He also expressed appreciation to his customers, saying: "I wouldn’t have made The Townhouse the success it has been without you all."
He said: "I’m incredibly grateful and excited to be passing the reins over to the new owners, Natalie & Ste. They’re a lovely local family, and I know they’re going to continue building The Townhouse and bringing new life to the bar."
Bittersweet farewell
The message was warmly received by loyal customers and followers who wished Brad well on his next endeavour. After his final day of trading, which fell on Saturday, September 19, the former owner issued another statement announcing: "Well... that's a wrap!"
He said: "The most amazing seven years ended with the loveliest weekend! Thank you to each and every one of you for all of the support & to everyone that came to say goodbye!"
He added: "I’m so touched by all of the love I have received, the cards, gifts and many many hugs. Truly showed I’ve not just been a bar, but a safe space that has created many friendships."
"Massive thank you to all of my staff that have worked hard over the years, I'd have been lost without you! The most bitter sweet ending. See you all on the opposite side of the bar."
