Lickety Split, the much-loved ice cream parlour in Seaham, has opened its own jacket potato bar called Spuddy Holly.
The new venture adds savoury options to the parlour, which has been serving ice cream in the town since 2009. The sister business in Durham closed at the end of August, but the Seaham branch continues to operate and now offers the new food bar.
Menu and prices
Customers can choose from a range of toppings including cheese, beans, tuna and sweetcorn, pulled pork and Chinese chicken curry. A deal offers two potatoes with one topping each for £10.
Jacket potatoes cost £4 with just butter, £6 with any topping, and £2 per extra topping.
Popular demand
Spuddy Holly has already been a success, with the venue regularly selling out of food. The name, like Lickety Split, takes inspiration from the past.
The popularity of jacket potatoes in the region was previously seen when TikTok sensations Spud Bros opened their first North East store, with queues around the block and some people lining up from early in the morning. Similar scenes followed when Spud Bros had a stall at this year's Hoppings.
