Snowflake Gelato, an award-winning ice cream parlour known for its handmade, artisanal desserts, has opened at Silverburn shopping centre in Glasgow. The new branch marks the brand's third in Scotland and brings its total number of UK stores to 19.
The boutique opened on Friday, August 21. It follows the brand's Scottish debut at Braehead in October and a subsequent branch in Edinburgh's St. James Quarter, which opened in June.
Trendy Menu and New Snow Collection
The newest boutique will offer the Italian brand's menu, including fresh gelato, iced matcha, shakes and ice cream cones. Classics such as the Cotton Candy Paw and Dubai Chocolate Stick are expected to be available.
Snowflake Gelato has also introduced its new 'Snow Collection' at the Silverburn branch. These fruit-shaped creations are handcrafted and hand painted. The first item in the line is the Snow Mango, a gelato stick made with mango sorbet wrapped in white chocolate coating and a lemon shell.
Brand History and Expansion
Founded in 2012 by Asad and gelato chef Paolo, Snowflake Gelato combines traditional Italian artisanal methods with high-quality local ingredients. It won the Great Taste Supreme Champion Award in 2014 for its handcrafted raspberry sorbet.
The brand's first UK store opened in London's Baywater in 2012. It has since expanded across the UK and internationally, with two boutiques at Jeddha and Doha airports.
Shopper Excitement and Silverburn Growth
The new branch has generated excitement among shoppers. Silverburn announced the opening on Instagram with a post that read: "Say hello to your new favourite sweet spot at Silverburn, Snowflake Gelato is now open!"
One shopper responded: "Omg where did this pop up out of?! Exciiiited!! Please tell me there’s seating at this one?" Another added: "My fave," while a third wrote: "Excited."
Silverburn, described as 'the best shopping centre in the UK', has recently welcomed beauty giant Sephora, its second Scottish location. It is also set to become home to the country's first Harli + Harpa store, with the Australian jewellery brand confirming it will open "later this year", though an official date has not been announced.
