A highly acclaimed restaurant in Wales, Slice, has announced it will permanently close its doors in October after 12 years of operation. Located on Eversley Road in Sketty, Swansea, the establishment has been a fixture in the local dining scene since opening in 2014.
Owners Announce Closure
Chefs Chris Harris and Adam Bannister, who run Slice, made the announcement, describing it as a difficult decision. The restaurant has been featured in both the Michelin Guide and the Good Food Guide. Bannister previously won the Welsh title on the BBC's Great British Menu and competed again in 2016.
In a statement, the owners said: "After 13 wonderful years in business at Slice we have come to the difficult decision that it is time for a change." They explained that operations will continue as normal until August 8, after which the restaurant will take its annual two-week break. From August 27, Slice will offer only its tasting menu for dinner service until the final day on October 25.
Heart Surgery Prompts Change
The change in format is partly due to Harris undergoing heart surgery, leaving Bannister and Lyndsay to manage the restaurant. The owners emphasized that this approach ensures consistency and quality for guests.
"We have loved every moment of our journey at Slice. It has been a privilege to meet so many wonderful people, become part of this amazing community, and share countless memories with you over the years," they added.
Customer Reaction and Future Plans
Customers reacted with devastation, calling it a sad day. However, the owners hinted at a new concept in the works, allowing them more time with family while remaining part of the community. They said: "We look forward to sharing more details with you in the coming months. Thank you for being part of our Slice story."
