Slice owners unveil new Swansea venture Slice Eatery

The owners of Slice, a Swansea restaurant long regarded as one of the best in Wales, have announced plans for a new venture called Slice Eatery after confirming the closure of their current business.

Chefs Chris Harris and Adam Bannister, who run Slice, announced in June that the restaurant will close for good on October 25. The news left customers "devastated", according to WalesOnline. Since opening in 2014, Slice has been featured in the Michelin Guide and the Good Food Guide. In 2015, Adam won the Welsh title on the BBC's Great British Menu and competed again in 2016.

New offering in Sketty

Slice Eatery will serve breakfasts, baked goods and coffee, a completely different offering from the original restaurant. It will be based in the Sketty area, with the opening date yet to be announced.

A statement from the owners read: "Something new is coming. After 13 incredible years of Slice, Adam and Chris made the difficult decision to close the restaurant earlier this year. We loved what we built, but the demands of evenings and weekends meant we were missing too much time with our young families."

Same ethos, no shortcuts

The statement continued: "But we're not finished yet. We're incredibly excited to introduce Slice Eatery. A new chapter, with the same people, the same obsession with great ingredients, and the same commitment to quality - just in a slightly different way."

"Think freshly baked breads, cakes, tarts, desserts, chocolate work, great coffee, proper breakfasts and savoury treats… some familiar, some definitely not your everyday sausage roll. Everything will be made with the same ethos that has been at the heart of Slice for 13 years: great ingredients, made properly, with no shortcuts."

The owners also thanked Beacon Cymru for supporting them and creating the premises for the new chapter, adding: "We've got a lot to do, and plenty more to show you. We can't wait to welcome you through the doors."
