Shevington coffee shop Chops queues for iced coffee in a can

I had driven out to Shevington, near Wigan, to make the most of a sunny morning. After a stroll along the nearby Leeds and Liverpool canal and a wander down the village's quiet main street, I spotted the usual Co-op, a butcher's and a Galloways bakery. What caught my eye, though, was a queue stretching out of the door of Chops, a new deli on 8 Broad O'Th' Ln.

At least ten people were waiting on an otherwise quiet morning. They were there for iced coffee served in a can, a signature item at Chops, which is less than an hour's drive from Liverpool.

What is Chops?

Described online as a 'deli', Chops serves sandwiches, spuds, soup and, of course, coffee. Some of Chops' Instagram reels have exceeded 150,000 views, helping it build a following beyond the village. The deli opened in June, and with hot weather and clever Instagram marketing, the queues into the street are no surprise.

People are clearly willing to travel up to an hour for the iced drinks.

I joined the queue

I decided to see what the hype was about. The iced coffee flavours on offer included French vanilla, Kinder Bueno, white chocolate, maple sea salt and salted caramel. The coffee is made on site and put into a takeaway can using a machine. There were also vanilla matcha, strawberry matcha, white chocolate and Bueno options.

I ordered a Kinder Bueno iced latte at £4.50 and was not disappointed. I don't usually like my coffee too sweet, but this had the perfect combination of espresso and milk, with a creamy hazelnut flavour. My only criticism was the price, though it seems standard for an iced coffee in 2026.
