Samsung Galaxy A18 drops to £229 in Argos Black Friday deal

Argos has reduced the Samsung Galaxy A18 to £229 (down from £249) as part of its early Black Friday savings, giving shoppers a more affordable way to upgrade their handset before Christmas.

The phone features a sleek, slim design and a generous 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, making it a practical option for scrolling through social media, watching videos or catching up on favourite shows. Photography fans can use its three rear cameras, including a 50MP main lens, a 5MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro lens for close-up shots, plus a 13MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.

Battery and storage

The device includes a 5,000mAh battery with fast-charging capability and 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card. Its upgraded processor is designed to keep everyday tasks running smoothly. Other features include a fingerprint scanner, contactless payments and AI-powered tools such as Circle to Search.

Samsung promises up to six generations of operating system upgrades and six years of security updates, similar to what rivals Google offer on its Pixel handsets. The SIM-free handset comes with a two-year guarantee and a USB-C charging cable, although a charging plug is not included.

Shopper feedback and alternatives

The Samsung Galaxy A18 has been rated highly by Argos shoppers, with one saying: “Performance is good , quick, long battery life, display excellent, and the price reasonable.” Another added: “Simple set up, nice camera and not too large to hold.” A third person wrote: “Great little entry-level phone. With six years of updates, it should last for a while. The camera is good quality for the price point, and with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 it should be fairly resistant to scratches.”

Some removed a star and said: “Cost-effective travel backup phone.” At Trustpilot, this person also removed a star for Argos, saying: “Good service at collection point. When searching on the website, it does not always take you where you want to go.”

For shoppers comparing alternatives, Google's Pixel 10a at Vodafone is another option, priced at £416 for the total device with 128GB capacity, or there are monthly options from £21 per month. Apple fans could look at the iPhone 17e at musicMagpie, with options ranging from £569.99 up front, or payment plans from £20.69 per month. The Samsung Galaxy A18 is available from Argos.
