Sainsbury's Tu Clothing has locked prices on its school uniform range for the fourth consecutive year, with shirts working out at £1.33 each and trousers from £4.38 per pair.
The School Shop at Sainsbury's offers uniform staples and footwear, allowing parents to buy school essentials while doing their weekly food shop. The collection is designed to withstand playground wear and repeated washes, with features including reinforced knees, extendable hems, stain-repellent finishes, adjustable waistbands and easy-care fabrics.
Range and prices
The range includes shirts, polo shirts, trousers, skirts, pinafores, dresses, jumpers, cardigans, socks, tights and PE essentials. Grow-with-me and extendable-hem trousers provide extra room as children grow. For younger children, a two-pack of pinafore dresses starts from £9 in green, black, grey or navy, while school skirts start from £6 for two in smaller sizes.
A four-pack of pleated skirts starts from £14 for smaller sizes, available in three colours, two lengths and sizes three years to 16 years. One parent commented: "I bought these a few weeks ago, we opted for the longer length to comply with the school rules. The fit is great, and the pleat has so far washed out. No ironing needed." Some parents found the sizing "bigger than expected", but the skirts hold a 4.2 out of 5 rating from shoppers.
For boys, a two-pack of Black Woven Trousers with Reinforced Knees and Extendable Hem starts from £7, available in three shades across sizes four to 16 years. Five-pair trouser bundles bring the cost down to £4.38 per pair, with a 4.9 out of five star rating on the Tu website. One buyer said: "They are brilliant value for money, they last all year so very durable. They wash well without fading. There is the ability to make the waist smaller or larger with an elastic button in each side. The reinforced knees are great and they fit true to size."
Multipacks and shoes
Multipacks include two-pack polo shirts from £3 and three-pack white shirts from £4, making shirts £1.33 each. School shoes are also available, with Clarks offering two pairs and a third at half price. The Clarks Somerset Flex Kid Black Leather boys' school shoes start from £40, while the Derry Bar Youth Black Leather girls' shoes are reduced to £30.
