Rudy's Pizza confirms first Scotland branch in Glasgow

World-famed pizza chain Rudy's Pizza Napoletana has confirmed it will open its first Scotland branch in Glasgow this autumn. The new pizzeria will be located at 35 Gordon Street, with work reportedly underway. No official opening date has been announced yet.

Recruitment and Expansion

The upcoming Glasgow restaurant is said to have several roles available, including front and back of house staff and supervisor positions. Recruitment days for full and part-time roles will be held closer to the opening date, but eager applicants can send their CV to careers@rudyspizza.co.uk.

This opening will bring the popular UK chain's total branches to 42 nationwide. First launched in Manchester, Ancoats, in 2015, Rudy's has become one of Britain's most beloved pizzerias.

Authentic Neapolitan Craft

The pizzeria is famed for its light, double-fermented dough and dedication to authentic Neapolitan art. All pizzas are made using fresh ingredients sourced directly from Italy and cooked in traditional brick-heated ovens. Each pizza, from the classic Margherita to the fiery Calabrese, uses traditional techniques. Menu favourites include the Cinghiale, Margherita Con Bufala, and Triple Pepperoni.

Rudy's is the largest organisation accredited by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), the international body that protects and promotes traditional Neapolitan pizza making. It is also recognised in the World's 50 Best Pizzerias, ranking 23rd globally for 2025.

City's Vibrant Food Scene

Commenting on the new opening, Neal Bates, Managing Director of Rudy's, said: “Establishing a Scottish home for Rudy’s has long been an ambition of ours, so we can’t wait to welcome the people of Glasgow through our doors.

“Although known for the people who make it, the city has such a vibrant and diverse food and drink scene that we are buzzing to become part of, as we say ciao to our new neighbours and celebrate our opening.”

It will be the latest exciting opening for the Scottish high street. In Edinburgh, the first-ever Pureseoul officially opened its doors in the city's St. James Quarter. Located across from Sephora, the beauty brand has been dubbed "the home of K-beauty", with over 1,000 products from brands including Beauty of Joseon, Medicube, Abib and Torriden.

Meanwhile, Wetherspoons recently confirmed 11 new pubs to open across the UK, with two in Scotland. This includes the 'Red Gown' opening as part of the St. Andrews Students Association on September 4, followed by 'The William Chambers' on Chamber Street, Edinburgh, on November 3, taking over the former Revolution pub unit that closed in 2024.

A new fast food chain is also coming to Aberdeen. Beef King has been spotted setting up at 196 George Street, marking its second location in the North of Scotland following its opening in Stonehaven. It will be the chain's 12th UK location overall. No official date has been confirmed, although the firm hopes to aim for an opening in September.
