Roku has quietly expanded its free live TV offerings with the addition of four new sports channels, available now on The Roku Channel. The move brings the total number of free live channels on the platform to over 500.
Among the new additions are FIFA Plus Women and its Spanish-language counterpart FIFA Plus Español, allowing viewers to watch women's soccer. The channels are located at positions 5243 and 929, respectively. Also added are the Sports Illustrated channel (channel 227) and Stingray Hooked (channel 5306), a fishing channel.
The Roku Channel provides access to hundreds of movies, shows, live news, and children's programming without a subscription fee, though it is ad-supported. This latest update follows an April expansion that included channels featuring reruns of classic American TV series like Rawhide and The Beverly Hillbillies, as well as reality and comedy shows.
Roku reported a strong first quarter in a late-April shareholder letter, with platform revenue up 28% year-over-year, driven by advertising and subscriptions. The company's stock price has rebounded from a March low of $87.15 to $127.71 per share as of Tuesday afternoon.
