Roku has quietly expanded its free live TV offerings with the addition of four new sports channels, further enhancing its already extensive lineup of over 500 free channels available on The Roku Channel. The new channels, which went live on Monday, are designed to cater to sports enthusiasts, just in time for major upcoming events like the FIFA World Cup.
New Sports Channels Now Available
The four channels added this week are FIFA Plus Women, its Spanish-language counterpart FIFA Plus Español, Sports Illustrated, and Stingray Hooked. FIFA Plus Women, available on channel 5243, offers women's soccer content, while FIFA Plus Español on channel 929 provides Spanish-language coverage. Sports Illustrated, on channel 227, allows viewers to keep up with their favorite leagues, and Stingray Hooked, on channel 5306, is a dedicated fishing channel.
Roku confirmed the additions to The Independent, noting that these channels are part of its ongoing effort to provide diverse free content. The Roku Channel already includes hundreds of movies, shows, live news, and children's programming, all supported by advertisements.
Recent Channel Additions
In April, Roku added several other free channels, including reruns of the American Western series Rawhide and the 1960s sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies. Additionally, channels featuring the tattoo reality show Ink Master and Comedy Central's satirical program Tosh.0 were introduced. MTV en Español, which broadcasts music videos and reality shows in Spanish, was also included in the April update.
These additions come as Roku reported a strong first quarter, with platform revenue increasing by 28% year-over-year, driven by advertising and subscriptions. The company's stock price has also rebounded, trading at $127.71 per share on Tuesday afternoon, up from a low of $87.15 in late March.
Roku has not yet commented on the new channels, but Cord Cutters News first reported the development. The Roku Channel remains a popular free streaming option, though viewers must tolerate advertisements as part of the service.
