Amazon's Prime Day deals have brought the PlayStation 5 down to its original price just months after Sony increased it, and with Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders opening this week, gamers have a compelling reason to buy now. The standard 1TB PS5 console with a disc drive is discounted by 16%, reducing the price to £479 from the current £569.99 set by Sony in March. However, shoppers must act quickly: over 70% of the available deals have already been claimed, and the offer is exclusive to Amazon Prime members. The Prime Day event runs from Tuesday, June 23, to Friday, June 26.
Storage Options and Accessories on Sale
The discounted PS5 comes with the lower 1TB storage option, but Amazon is also offering significant savings on storage upgrades. The Seagate Game Drive for PS5, an officially licensed external hard drive with 5TB capacity, is reduced by nearly a third to £143.48 (down from over £200). It includes two weeks of PS Plus, though it cannot play PS5 games directly—users must transfer titles to the console's internal SSD first. For those needing less space, the 2TB model is available at £95.99, a 32% discount from its usual £141.99 price.
Gaming and Controller Deals
Alongside the console discount, Amazon is offering a Limited Edition version of Assassin's Creed Shadows at £27.99, making it a suitable companion for new PS5 owners. Xbox gamers also benefit from Prime Day: the official Xbox wireless controller is 20% off at £39.99 (down from £49.99), including a 9ft USB-C cable, available only in black. White, red, blue, and pink variants are discounted to £52.99 from £64.99. The black Xbox Elite Wireless Controller 2 is 30% off, priced at £118.70 (down from £169.99). Other accessories like the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 wireless headset are also reduced.
