Poundstretcher has expanded into bulk wholesale with the opening of a new clearance shop in the UK. The new location, named the "Bargain Buys Clearance Shop", is situated at the retailer's distribution centre near Desford in West Leicestershire.
The converted 3,000sq/ft customer-facing warehouse provides a dedicated space for local businesses and bulk buyers to purchase products by the case at wholesale rates. The cashless store opened for trade at 9am today (Monday, October 5, 2026).
Opening hours and product range
The store will operate regular weekly trading hours from Monday to Wednesday between 9am and 3pm. Customers can buy in bulk across a wide variety of categories including home, garden, household essentials, bathroom, kitchen, pet, and DIY ranges, with items sold in cases as part of the retailer's "When It's Gone, It's Gone" stock model.
According to Poundstretcher, the initiative comes in response to growing economic pressures that have driven both consumers and small businesses toward wholesale pricing options.
CEO comment and company expansion
Andy Atkinson, CEO at Poundstretcher, said the retail group developed the concept rapidly following direct enquiries from local traders looking to take advantage of the company's global buying power.
Poundstretcher currently operates around 300 stores nationwide and has opened 16 new locations since June 2026. The company has released a first-look video tour of the new Desford facility across its Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn pages.
Recent restructuring
In June, Poundstretcher was saved from collapse after a restructure plan was approved by the High Court. Mr Atkinson said: "Today our company is in a stronger position to continue investing in our stores, our people and the overall customer experience."
The High Court previously heard that Poundstretcher would "likely have no choice" but to file for administration if the restructuring plan was not approved. The British chain has branches in Merseyside situated in Bromborough, Huyton and Southport.
