Pokusevskis delicatessen and restaurant in Heaton Moor, Stockport, has reopened just four months after closing down in June, with its original owners back at the helm. The Shaw Road venue, which first opened in 2004, shut earlier this year after 22 years of trading, with its owners citing rising rental costs as the reason the business had become unworkable.
Original Team Returns After Two Years
The venue was known for its worldly line-up of food and extensive vegan selection. At the time of the closure, the owners said they had made the decision 'with great sadness', a sentiment shared by customers who expressed their disappointment.
It has now been revealed that Pokusevskis has reopened with its original team, which has returned after two years away. The Shaw Road space has been given a refresh with new artwork and a new 'contemporary feel'. The restaurant and deli will also feature a new menu, which the team said will 'retain all the firm favourites but with a few new additions'.
New Menu and Opening Hours
Its breakfast menu features dishes including shahshuka, full English, smashed avocado and an Eggs Pokusevski's, which includes poached eggs, spinach, bacon and Hollandaise sauce.
In an announcement on social media, the team said it had been overwhelmed by the positive response to the news. Owner Zoran Pokusevski wrote: "We have been completely taken aback by the generous and warm welcome we have received from all those who have reached out to us with - you really are a lovely bunch of people.
"Anyway, enough of that, we are back to baking cakes, prepping breakfast and lunch from early sunrise, then working to bring you (hopefully) food you’ll enjoy with friends and family at any time of the day."
Community Reaction
Zoran confirmed the shop would be open seven days a week, from 9am to 4pm each day, and added that it was great 'to be back amongst friends and part of the wonderful Heaton Moor community'.
The news went down well with locals in the area. One person said: "So happy about this news!! You have been missed." Another commented: "Excellent! Back to the future." One other wrote: "Amazing news!!! It wasn’t the same without you."
