Oral-B iO2 toothbrush drops to £39.99 in early Prime Day deal

The Oral-B iO2 electric toothbrush has dropped from £100 to £39.99 in an early Prime Day deal on Amazon, saving shoppers more than £60 on the dentist-recommended model.

Features and savings

The Oral-B iO2 offers three intensity levels – extra-gentle, gentle and daily clean – selectable via a simple one-button control. An automatic gum pressure sensor slows the brush and shows a red warning when too much pressure is applied, while a two-minute timer alerts users every 30 seconds to move to another area of the mouth.

Oral-B says its iO technology delivers 100% cleaner teeth than a regular manual toothbrush while being gentle on gums. The rechargeable toothbrush also features a long-lasting battery and quiet operation. Shoppers should note it comes with a two-pin charger and does not include an adapter.

Alternative options

Another option is the SURI 2.0 Sonic Electric Toothbrush & UV Travel Case in winter fern from Boots for £105. This has a built-in pressure sensor and a redesigned travel case that uses UV light to clean bristles on the go.

At Yimbly, an online marketplace owned by Reach Plc, the Philips Sonicare 3100 Series Rechargeable Sonic Toothbrush is available for £49.95, down from £89.99, in white – and can be bought for £44.96 with the discount code AUTUMN10. The toothbrush also comes in black, has a built-in pressure sensor and a 14-day battery life.

Shopper reviews

The Oral-B electric toothbrush has high ratings on Amazon. One shopper said: "Dentist recommended these for the wife, so I got one for myself as well. Great toothbrush and better than the previous Oral-Bs I have had. The battery lasts for ages as well. You still get toothpaste dribbling down the handle if you're not careful, but I have never found a toothbrush that doesn't do this yet. Excellent clean. Warning light for when the battery gets low. When the battery gets low, it still stays at good power rather than dropping to a slower speed, which I like. Definitely worth getting."

Another added: "Went to the dentist for a cleaning and she actually said that there wasn't much to do and I must be using an electric toothbrush after only switching three weeks prior, so not much more to say than that about the performance. Brush heads seem to last about three months, battery needs to be charged about every two weeks, and it otherwise works exactly as advertised."

A third person commented: "Great product, bought on a deal. Made a good saving. I love the comfort of the handle and the power when brushing. Good weight also. The box it arrives in is not your typical box, but that's all due to cutting packaging and waste. Be mindful of purchasing it as a gift."

Some others disagreed slightly, however. One person said: "Good, but brushes are expensive." Another added: "Good, quiet cleaning. Bought as a replacement for my previous Oral B brush. Didn't realise it had a whole new shape of brush head base, so my stock of previous heads won't fit! Hence, four stars, not five."
