Ten community pubs across the North East are inviting customers to a Payday Party Weekender from September 25-27, with disco classics, ABBA favourites and glittery drinks deals.
The event is being staged by Proper Pubs, the community pub division of Admiral Taverns. Participating venues include The Blue Bell in Felling, Gateshead, which underwent a makeover earlier this year, and Crown Colliery at Boldon Colliery, which was previously given a major revamp by Proper Pubs.
Disco theme and drinks deals
The party is advertised as a chance for locals "to celebrate pay-day in style with a weekend of disco classics, ABBA favourites and plenty of glittering fun." The disco theme will extend to some glittery drinks too.
Special deals will be available, with shots of Tofka, the shimmering toffee vodka, on offer, including a sharing six-shot option for friends. Customers can also try a Gold Brew, which combines Tofka with Tia Maria, or a Solid Gold, which pairs the golden drink with tequila.
Ten venues taking part
Admiral Taverns runs more than 200 Proper Pubs across England, Scotland and Wales, which have raised money for charity and made donations to local foodbanks. The Blue Bell, for instance, is currently looking for food or cash donations to be made before the end of September.
The 10 local Proper Pubs taking part in the Payday Party Weekender are: The Blue Bell in Felling; Crown Colliery at Boldon Colliery; Spring Gardens in North Shields; The Bird Inn in Washington; The Beehive in Sunderland; The Royal George Tavern at Shildon in County Durham; Stag Inn at Stockton; The Miners Arms at Middlesbrough; and Rosie's Tavern and The Turks Head, both in Darlington.
