Nominate the North East's Best Curry for 2026 Champion
Nominate North East's Best Curry for 2026 Champion

Nominations are now open to find the best place for a curry in the North East, with the champion set to be crowned for 2026. The search comes ahead of National Curry Week, which begins on October 5.

Readers of ChronicleLive are being asked to nominate their favourite spot, with the category broadened this year to include curries from across the world, rather than just Indian restaurants. Last year, Newcastle city centre favourite My Delhi topped the polls for best Indian.

How to Take Part

The poll follows a similar search for the region's best Sunday dinner, which drew hundreds of nominations and produced a shortlist of 11 venues. The winner of that contest is due to be announced on Sunday.

Nominations for the curry poll close on Thursday, October 8, with the final contenders revealed on Friday, October 9. Organisers hope to see representation from across the North East on the shortlist, as was the case for the Sunday dinner competition.

Broadened Category

Unlike last year's best Indian poll, this year's category is open to all types of curry, allowing dishes from various culinary traditions to compete. Readers are encouraged to pick just one restaurant to nominate as their favourite.
