Assemble, a bar and restaurant in Newcastle's Old Eldon Square that has become one of the city's best kept secrets, has been put up for sale with a price tag of £65,000.
The venue opened at the end of August 2025, launched by the same team behind the successful beer and wine bar House in Heaton. It occupies a terrace in a prime location, surrounded by local businesses including the Basement vintage store and Eldon, a Parisian-inspired cafe that opened at the end of the row in May this year.
A reputation built on food and wine
Despite its small size, Assemble quickly built a strong reputation for high-quality food and a fine glass of wine. Foodies who had enjoyed Soku during its time at The Lockup in Ouseburn were pleased when it moved to Assemble, with its dishes being popular until its final service in July.
The venue has remained open four days a week, recently welcoming a new food business, Pella, to its kitchen. Pella has been serving authentic Mediterranean dishes such as calamari and taramasalata in Old Eldon Square, receiving positive feedback.
The sale and the property
The Assemble building is a new listing with estate agents Rooks Matthew Sayer this week, advertised at £65,000 and described as an 'exciting opportunity' for a new owner. Inside, there is space for around 20 customers, with additional seating available outside on the terrace.
The online listing states: 'Whilst the business has already established a successful coffee, wine and hospitality offering, the fully fitted commercial kitchen and flexible layout provide significant scope for a new owner to introduce their own food concept, catering operation or hospitality brand, subject to any necessary consents.'
