Taco Bell is set to open a new restaurant in Darlington this week, eight years after the American chain first launched in Newcastle city centre. The opening will feature a 'giant treasure hunt' called The Bell Code, challenging locals to unlock rewards.
The new branch on Albert Road opens on Thursday, August 27, bringing the chain's bold flavours and fan favourite classics to the town. It follows the success of the Grainger Street restaurant in Newcastle, which first opened in December 2018 in the former Poundworld building.
Menu highlights and vegetarian options
Guests can enjoy menu icons including the Crunchwrap Supreme, Crunchy Taco Supreme and Volcano Burrito, alongside the viral Mountain Dew Baja Blast and a full lineup of vegetarian options.
Lucy Dee, Marketing Director of Taco Bell UK & Ireland, said: "At Taco Bell, we live for pushing boundaries with bold flavours, category defining innovation and brand experiences people don't forget. From cult favourites to exciting new menu drops, we never stop evolving to give our customers something craveable, distinctive, and unmistakably Taco Bell." She added: "We can't wait to open our doors and connect with the people of Darlington."
The Bell Code treasure hunt
To mark the opening, Taco Bell is activating The Bell Code in the UK for the first time. Local residents are invited to hunt down QR codes scattered across town, unlock rewards along the way, and crack the final combination for a chance to win free Taco Bell for a year.
