Sambuca Riverside has opened its doors in Durham, becoming the latest addition to the well-known chain's portfolio of North East restaurants. The new venue is situated in a picturesque spot by the river, with its location reflected in its name.
Popular chain expands to Durham
Sambuca restaurants have long been a go-to for diners seeking a filling meal at affordable prices, offering a proper carb fix, huge Sunday dinners, and bargain lunchtime deals. The chain already operates branches across the region, including in Gateshead, Forest Hall, the Fish Quay, and Heaton Park. Now, Durham has its own Sambuca, and customers are already dining there in large numbers.
Durham is known for its excellent dining scene, with a range of great places across the city. The new Sambuca occupies a prime spot right by the river, and its menu is as extensive as at other Sambuca venues.
Menu highlights and local reaction
The menu features popular starters such as potato skins, soup, garlic mushrooms, and king prawns, alongside a wide selection of mains including grills, pizzas, pastas, risottos, and a special kids menu. Desserts like the ever-popular tiramisu are also available.
News of the opening has generated a positive reaction from locals, with many commenting on the location. One excited diner said: "Under Old Tom's gin bar outside seating area. Lovely there." Another added: "Can't go wrong at Sambucas, had lovely meals at their other venues so hope this one is as successful."
