Nando's fans are rushing to Sainsbury's after the restaurant launched a new seasoning product designed for air fryers. The seasoning comes in three flavours: medium, peri-BBQ, and peri-paprika and garlic, priced at £3 or £2.50 with a Nectar card.
Convenience and Value
The product promises "flavour in a flash" and is aimed at families looking to recreate Nando's meals at home for a fraction of the cost. A meal for two can cost as little as £7 compared to £30-£45 at the restaurant.
New Foods UK shared a picture of the seasoning on Instagram, sparking excitement among shoppers. The Sainsbury's website describes it as: "Everyone's favourite kitchen appliance needed a bit of seasoning... Ding. Enter our legendary peri-peri (African bird's eye chillies) with a medium kick."
Social Media Reactions
On Instagram, one user commented: "We need to try these." However, some Facebook users questioned why the seasoning was marketed specifically for air fryers. One asked: "How does a seasoning know it’s an air fryer one?" Another accused: "What a cash grab lol."
A foodie explained the difference: "Only difference from the powder packet is that these ones contain cornflour and don’t contain tomato powder."
Fakeaway Inspiration
Instagrammer Sarah, who posts as @sarahs_sw_diary, shared how she makes a Nando's fakeaway for £7. She used chicken breasts from Tesco, microwave rice with peri-peri seasoning, Nando's garlic sauce, halloumi, ciabatta rolls, and coleslaw.
