Marks and Spencer has released a new version of its viral sell-out barn jacket for 2026, and it has already been labelled as 'in demand' online. The £90 jacket is currently in stock in all sizes, ranging from extra small to extra large.
Design and features
The jacket features a chic checked design that would instantly elevate neutral outfits, plus the longer length means it's versatile enough to wear with both leggings and jeans. The comfy style also boasts poppers and added stretch for easy styling over knitwear as the weather cools.

Whilst the jacket boasts a similar design to last year's sell out buy, it features an on-trend chocolate brown hue with a larger check print. A writer who tried on the jacket in store noted that limited sizes remained in the M&S she visited. She would normally have opted for a small or an extra small (UK size 10) as the jacket is slightly oversized, but she is pictured in a medium which she said was still too big even if it was layered over a thicker knit, which she felt is one downside to the cover-up.

Returning to M&S' jacket, the coat is as practical as it is pretty thanks to its coated finish, which the retailer says helps it to withstand the elements without weighing the wearer down. While M&S' jacket has yet to be reviewed, if last year's version is anything to go by, it is expected to be a sell-out, so those with their eyes on it may wish to move fast.
