Marks and Spencer has unveiled a new range of picnic essentials just in time for summer, including a super-sized sausage roll and portable pocket pies. The retailer described the offerings as 'next level', with the sausage roll made from outdoor-bred British pork and smoked bacon, wrapped in all-butter puff pastry.
The Ultimate Sharing Sausage Roll is designed to serve six people and can be enjoyed hot or cold. M&S recommended taking a knife for slicing. The pocket pies come in flavours such as chicken fajita, barbecue pork, margarita pizza, and spanakopita, and are also suitable for eating on the go.
Shoppers have expressed excitement on social media, with one commenting 'Just got my hands on them, can’t wait to try them' and another leaving a drooling emoji. However, some customers called for more vegan options, and one noted that the pocket pie filling looked different in reality compared to promotional photos.
In addition, M&S has launched its 'Best Ever Melton Mowbray Pork Pie', made with British pork shoulder and diced silverside, encased in hot water crust pastry. The products are available in M&S food halls and on Ocado.
