Marks & Spencer has opened a brand-new store in South London and confirmed two more sites will launch in October. The new, fresh market-style food hall is located at Bell Green Retail Park, in Sydenham, south London.
What the new store offers
The store features an in-store bakery and coffee counter where “customers can enjoy barista-made takeaway hot drinks and a range of bread and pastries”. The new modern supermarkets also have a cheese bar and a click-and-collect service.
There is also a Hot Chicken Counter, and a dedicated Flower and Wine shop “showcasing the best Flower Market Specials and award-winning wines”.
Jobs and customer response
The new M&S food hall has created over 50 new local jobs. Richard Connelly, Store Manager at M&S Sydenham, said: “The reception from customers has been absolutely fantastic, and a big thank you goes out to everyone who lined up at 8am to see our doors opening this morning.
“Whether you're dropping in for a quick lunch or stocking up for the week, our new store has something for everyone, and we're excited to bring Sydenham customers the exceptional quality and trusted value that M&S is known for.
“I’m proud of the hard work our team has put in to get the store ready to launch, and we’re excited to serve the local community now that our doors are open.”
Upcoming store openings
M&S stores opening this autumn include Bell Green Retail Park (Sydenham, South London), which opened in September, Elephant and Castle (South London), opening on October 29, and Riverside Retail Park, Northampton, opening in late October.
