Nine Marks and Spencer stores across Merseyside have launched Too Good To Go Surprise Bags to tackle food waste.
The partnership allows customers to buy surplus bakery items including pastries, cookies and bread for £3.80 instead of the usual £10.20. Bags can be ordered through the app and collected Monday to Saturday, one hour before store closing.
Participating stores
Participating stores include Liverpool ONE, Aintree, Bidston Moss, Heswall, Edge Lane, New Mersey Retail Park, Prescot Cables, Southport and St Helens Ravenhead.
Store manager comment
Margaret Gettel, store manager at M&S Liverpool ONE, said: "By finding new ways to re-purpose surplus products, we're helping ensure more food is enjoyed rather than wasted."
Background and goals
The initiative follows a successful trial across select UK stores and supports M&S's goal to halve food waste by 2030.
