Marks and Spencer has confirmed the new stores it will open in 2026, following the announcement of a wishlist of 500 locations across the United Kingdom. The British supermarket chain is rapidly expanding its food business, aiming to bring M&S Food stores to areas that previously lacked one.
New Stores for 2026
M&S has confirmed the following new stores for 2026:
- Tottenham Court Road – opening June 9, 2026
- Weymouth Gateway – opening summer 2026
- Godalming – opening summer 2026
- Bell Green Sydenham – opening September 2026
- Elephant & Castle – opening autumn/winter 2026
These additions come after 15 stores that have already opened this year. The chain previously opened a new 13,000 square foot store in Martlesham Heath and submitted plans to redevelop the former Homebase site in South Ruislip, London.
Expansion Plans
M&S is targeting more budget-conscious customers with a range of affordable essentials. Alex Freudmann, M&S Managing Director, said: "The strong performance of our new M&S food stores gives us the confidence to explore even more locations across the UK, from Elgin to Exmouth." He added: "With more than twenty stores opening or modernised before the end of the financial year, we are moving faster. Our team want new sites where we could open a large M&S Food store as we deliver on our strategy to bring the right stores to the right places and offer the best shopping experience, range and availability for our customers."
500 Location Wishlist
The supermarket previously unveiled a list of 500 locations where it aims to open stores. These include areas across North West and West London, The City, North East and Inner South East London, South London and The West End, Scotland, Midlands and North East, North West and North Wales, Midlands and East Anglia, Home Counties, and South West and South Wales.
