Moss Bros to Replace Hugo Boss in Newcastle Monument Store

Moss Bros is set to open a new store in Newcastle's Monument building, the former home of Hugo Boss, with work already underway and a November opening planned.

The large city centre unit, previously occupied by Hugo Boss until its closure earlier this year, has been taken over by the suit specialist. Hugo Boss shut its flagship store a few months ago, though it continues to trade in the city centre through its concession inside Fenwick.

Transition Underway at Monument

Builders are already working on the building's transformation from one well-known chain to another. A large Moss billboard was spotted on an outside wall on Tuesday afternoon, featuring a model wearing the brand's clothing and the message: 'Moss. Meet the new Moss Bros.' Another billboard underneath reveals that the shop is set to open in November.

The building, a long-time fixture of Newcastle's fashion scene and a former neighbour of Reiss, The Botanist and Banyan, will become the new, larger Tyneside home of Moss Bros.

Retail Changes Across Newcastle

The move is one of several imminent changes to Newcastle's retail line-up. Toy store Pop Mart is opening in Eldon Square this week, and clothing brand Lucy & Yak has also confirmed plans to expand to Newcastle, following an online job advert for a store manager.
