Morrisons Shoppers Stunned by £80 Price Tag of Giant 4.5kg Toblerone
Morrisons Shoppers Stunned by £80 Giant Toblerone Bar

Shoppers at Morrisons have been left stunned after spotting the price of a colossal 4.5kg Toblerone bar. The Swiss chocolate giant, known for its honey and almond recipe and iconic triangular shape, is currently available in stores, but it comes with a hefty price tag.

In-store signage reveals that the enormous Toblerone was originally priced at £80. However, customers can now purchase it for £50 by using the supermarket's More Card. The deal was highlighted by the popular food account New Foods UK, which shared a photo of the chocolate bar on social media, captioning it: "Huge 4.5kg Toblerone spotted at Morrisons."

The post quickly garnered comments from shocked shoppers. One person exclaimed: "It was £80? Where’s the Panorama documentary?" Another added: "What in the cost of living crisis is going on here? 50 English pounds, lord have mercy." A third chimed in: "It’s still at least £40 overpriced, even with the reduction!" While a fourth simply probed: "£50?!"

Despite the price shock, some shoppers expressed interest in buying the bar. One wrote: "That looks amazing. Definitely need to add this to my shopping list."

A Morrisons representative commented: "Our 4.5kg Toblerone offers customers a fun way to celebrate Father figures this bank holiday. For customers wishing to spend less, we also have a 340g Toblerone for £7, or £4.75 with a More Card."

Weighing 4.5kg, the supersized Swiss chocolate bar is heavier than the average newborn baby and contains more than 12 times the chocolate of a regular Toblerone. It is also around £35 cheaper than similar oversized Toblerones sold elsewhere. Morrisons appears to be the only UK supermarket currently stocking the huge bar in-store.

For those who prefer home delivery, the 80cm-long bar is available from Amazon UK, Cadbury Gifts Direct, and Wholesale Sweets/Hancocks. Amazon typically lists it at around £72.79, while Cadbury Gifts Direct sells it for £85. Wholesale Sweets/Hancocks offers it to the public or businesses for between £82.79 and £95.29.

Morrisons first launched the massive bar as a viral headline-grabber for its Black Friday 2017 shopping event. Initially a rare novelty gimmick, its massive popularity turned it into a staple seasonal product. The brand now rolls it out as a limited-edition gift for major UK holidays, primarily Father's Day (this month) and Christmas, as the ultimate stocking filler.
