Morrisons Launches £2.50 Meal Deal for World Cup

Morrisons has introduced a new meal deal priced at just £2.50 per person, perfectly timed for the World Cup. The supermarket chain launched the offer on June 17, allowing customers to enjoy a feast for four at a total cost of £10. This represents a saving of £14.75 compared to buying the items separately, according to Morrisons.

Match Day Meal Deal Details

The Match Day Meal Deal includes two mains, two sides, and a pack of four drinks. It is inspired by US game-day food culture and is designed to cater to the expected surge in viewership. Research by YouGov indicates that 55% of the UK public plans to watch the games from home, with Morrisons anticipating that two-thirds of the population will tune in.

The offer is available both in-store and online from June 17 to July 28. Shoppers can choose from over 1,800 combinations of mains, sides, and drinks. Mains include slow-cooked barbeque ribs, buffalo wings, pulled pork, loaded nachos, and Southern fried chicken. Sides range from fries and onion rings to bacon mac and cheese.

Customer Convenience and Savings

Sian Whittle, Trading Director of Meal Solutions at Morrisons, commented: “We know this summer’s tournament will bring people together in living rooms across the country, often late at night due to the time difference, so we’ve created a range of meal deals built around easy, flavour-packed sharing food. From wings and ribs to loaded nachos and fries, the range is all about making it simple to host a great match night at home without stretching the budget.”

The meal deals are part of Morrisons' strategy to attract customers during the sporting event, offering affordable and convenient options for group gatherings.
