Morrisons now offers the cheapest supermarket meal deal in Britain after cutting prices for loyalty card customers. The bundle, which includes a main, snack and drink, costs £3.65 — 9p less than the next cheapest alternative.
Only shoppers with a More card can benefit from the reduced price, which was introduced on September 28. Without the card, customers must pay £4.25.
What the deal includes
Snack options include Krispy Kreme doughnuts and ice creams, and shoppers can choose Costa Express drinks at no extra cost. The £3.65 price undercuts Asda's offering of £3.74 for a main, snack and drink, making it the second cheapest deal.
Tesco's meal deal also depends on a loyalty discount, with Clubcard holders paying £3.85 for a standard main, snack and drink. Non-members pay £4.25. Tesco customers can also get Costa Express drinks or a snack from its bakery section.
How other supermarkets compare
Sainsbury's meal deal costs £3.95 for a main, snack and drink, but does not require a loyalty card, so all shoppers can take advantage of the price. The Co-op charges £3.85 for members and £4.25 for non-members, with snack options including ice creams and a choice of most wraps and sandwiches.
Marks and Spencer is more expensive at between £5.00 and £6.99, with mains limited to a selection of its simple sandwiches, mainly at travel hubs and Simply Food locations. Waitrose's meal deal costs £5.50 and includes premium options such as salmon and rice boxes, high-protein choices and substantial snacks like samosas and bircher muesli.
Aldi and Lidl alternatives
Aldi and Lidl do not offer a formal, fixed-price lunchtime meal deal. However, both stores sell low-priced on-the-go lunch items, including sandwiches from £1.19, wraps, pasta salads and sushi.
