Morrisons and M&S Confirm Summer Store Closures Affecting Hundreds
Morrisons and M&S Confirm Summer Store Closures

Morrisons has confirmed plans to shut 100 stores over the coming months, putting hundreds of jobs at risk. The supermarket giant blamed rising costs driven by Government policies, including hikes to the National Living Wage and employee National Insurance contributions.

Confirmed Morrisons Daily Closures

Seven locations have been confirmed as affected by the closures, including several branches in York and the North East. Shutting these loss-making convenience stores has been a "tough" call for the company, but is part of a wider effort to reduce costs. The retailer previously stated it would try to find alternative roles for staff facing redundancy.

Quiz Ceases Trading

British fashion retailer Quiz, which fell into administration in February, is due to cease trading entirely by July. All items are currently priced under £10 in its closing-down sale, as "all remaining stock must be cleared" and due to the nature of the sale, "all purchases are final".
