Montirex founders turn kitchen table brand into £130m success

Daniel Yuen and Kieran Riddell-Austin, the co-founders of Liverpool-based sportswear brand Montirex, saw their company record a turnover of £129.3 million for the year ending December 31, 2025. This represents a 79% increase from the previous year.

The technical sportswear and outdoor brand, known for its vibrant static T-shirts, was launched in 2019. The business has grown into a major regional success, opening a store in Liverpool ONE and generating millions in turnover.

Workforce expansion and product growth

During 2025, Montirex increased its headcount from 66 to 111 employees, adding staff across marketing, product development and technology. The company said its growth was driven by strong demand from consumers and wholesale customers, alongside rising sales across European markets.

The brand strengthened its presence in running and training through the expansion of its MTX Run range. It also introduced more technical products through collaborations with performance fabric specialists such as Polartec.

Recognition and community initiatives

The founders have been named on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the Europe Retail & Ecommerce category and on The Sunday Times Young Power List 2026. The company also launched The Montirex Foundation, which aims to support youth mental health through sport.

Kieran said the original ambition was to create high-performance sportswear that looked good while remaining accessible. He said the company's latest growth reflected customer loyalty and the commitment of its expanding team, while growing European demand and new product categories are helping Montirex develop into a broader active lifestyle brand.
