Cardiff's Lofft: Michelin-Recommended Tasting Menu Now 25% Off
Michelin-Recommended Lofft in Cardiff Offers 25% Off Tasting Menu

Lofft, an intimate 12-seater chef's counter in Cardiff's Pontcanna suburb, is currently offering 25% off its 10-course tasting menu when diners add the code LOFFT25 to their booking comments. The restaurant has also appeared on dining deal sites such as First Table with a 50% discount. With the tasting menu priced at £110 per person, the savings are considerable.

Michelin Recognition and Awards

Lofft forms part of Chef Tom Simmons' reimagined Pontcanna restaurant, which launched earlier this year as two distinct but connected dining experiences under one roof: Lofft, an intimate chef's counter and open kitchen upstairs, and Thomas, a relaxed Welsh brasserie downstairs. The restaurant has received a glowing Michelin Guide review and three AA rosettes at the recent AA Hospitality Awards 2026.

The AA describes three rosettes as an award given to "outstanding restaurants that are worth travelling for". In its August additions list, Michelin says of Lofft: "Cardiff locals may already be familiar with chef Tom Simmons from his Pontcanna brasserie, Thomas. Now, he’s unleashing his full talents at this immersive 12-seater counter hidden away above the brasserie."

The Dining Experience

Executive Chef Tom Peters, whose background includes Roux at Parliament Square and Maaemo in Oslo, leads the experience. The Lofft team says they are "intentionally small", aiming to create an "intimate atmosphere where guests can engage directly with the team and experience the kitchen's rhythm up close."

The tasting menu features seasonal Welsh produce, with typical plates including celeriac rice with black winter truffle and Hafod, turbot and scallop Wellington with Champagne sauce, and Carmarthenshire lamb saddle with Wye Valley asparagus, morel and wild garlic. A review of the experience highlighted the St Brides crab, treacle bread with salted Welsh butter, and the Amedei chocolate mousse, which Michelin specifically singles out.

While the experience lasts a few hours, it doesn't drag on forever, and diners are seated at the chef's counter with full visibility of the cooking process. Servers are attentive, making time to discuss dishes and pours. The review concluded that the experience was splendid, with no need for a late-night cheeseburger afterwards, and the writer said they would book again and watch for upcoming deals.
