McVitie's Launches Savoury Penguin Bites, Dividing Shoppers
McVitie's Savoury Penguin Bites Divide Shoppers

McVitie's has introduced a new snack that has left shoppers intrigued and divided. Known primarily for its sweet biscuits, the brand is now venturing into savoury territory with the launch of Penguin Bites. These crackers, shaped like mini penguins, are available in three flavours: cheese, lightly salted, and salt & vinegar. They will be sold in UK supermarkets.

Shoppers React to Savoury Twist

The announcement on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook has generated mixed reactions. On the Instagram page uknewestfood, one shopper commented, "This is random but I'm kinda curious." Another user, Soph, compared the new crackers to "the oddities that Jacob's had." On the Facebook group Snack News & Reviews, Shonn Walker joked, "I swear if these are like oddities I'll kiss Mcvities on the mouth."

However, not everyone is enthusiastic. Odile Kwizera questioned, "So instead of white chocolate penguins we got savoury ones?" Flipple added, "Nobody asked for savoury penguin snacks."

Previous Innovation: Digestives Jaffa Cakes

This launch follows last month's discovery of McVitie's Digestives Jaffa Cakes in Sainsbury's, which some shoppers described as the "collab we didn't know we needed." The new Penguin Bites mark another step in McVitie's expansion beyond traditional sweet biscuits.
