McDonald’s to Axe Fan-Favourite Wrap Deal After 15 Years
McDonald’s to Axe Fan-Favourite Wrap Deal After 15 Years

McDonald’s is set to discontinue its popular ‘Wrap of the Day’ promotion next month, ending a 15-year run that has delighted customers. The fast-food giant will replace the in-store deal with a new app-based offer called ‘Wrap in the App’, forcing customers to download the McDonald’s app to access the discounted wraps.

Changes to the Wrap Deal

Starting next month, the ‘Wrap of the Day’ offer will no longer be available at in-store kiosks or counters. Instead, customers must use the McDonald’s app to order a wrap at a reduced price of £2.49. The deal can be redeemed once daily between 11am and 11pm, and customers can choose to pick up their order in-store or have it delivered.

Those who order wraps at the kiosks without using the app will have to pay the full price, which ranges from £4.49 to £5.79. The rebranded offer will appear in the ‘Offer’ section of the app’s homepage.

Customer Reactions

The change has frustrated many loyal customers, who have taken to social media to express their displeasure. One TikTok user recalled, “I remember the wrap of the day being £1.99,” while another commented that Brits “may as well go out for a meal for the price of a McDonald’s now.” Some users have even called for a boycott, suggesting that making wraps and burgers at home is a better option.

The move comes after McDonald’s previously scrapped its £2.99 meal deal, which offered a full meal for that price. Customers have noted the trend of rising costs and reduced value for money at the chain.

McDonald’s Response

A McDonald’s spokesperson explained the decision to The Sun: “From July 14, our new ‘Get Any Wrap in the App’ offer will enable customers to redeem any wrap for £2.49, any day of the week, on the McDonald’s App.” They added, “We regularly review the ways we can improve our value offers and moving this new deal onto the app means customers will have more flexibility to choose their favourite wrap on any day they’d like it.”

The Express has contacted McDonald’s separately for further comment. The ‘Wrap of the Day’ promotion has been a staple for 15 years, offering flavours such as BBQ & Bacon Wrap, Sweet Chilli Wrap, and Tikka Chicken Wrap. The new app-based deal aims to provide more choice but has sparked backlash from customers who prefer the convenience of in-store ordering.
