McDonald's has quietly removed three burgers from its UK menu, leaving fans 'heartbroken'. The Bacon Double Cheeseburger and Bacon Mayo Chicken were cut in May, while the Triple Cheeseburger was axed in June, the fast-food chain confirmed.
Fans took to social media to express their disappointment. '@Troy_h8' wrote: 'The bacon double cheeseburger is important to the McDonald's culture… I'm so disappointed.' Meanwhile, '@DoktorWatson' called the triple slashing a 'horror of horrors'. Another fan, '@rachellaura_', said: 'Bring back the Triple Cheese Burger, I'm honestly heartbroken.'
The Bacon Double Cheeseburger, introduced in 2018, featured two patties, two slices of cheese, two rashers of bacon, onions, pickles, mustard and ketchup. It initially cost £1.99 but later rose to £2.89. The Triple Cheeseburger, launched in 2020, had three patties and three slices of cheese for £2.19. Customers can still replicate the Bacon Double Cheeseburger by ordering a Double Cheeseburger and adding bacon as an extra.
A McDonald's spokesperson said: 'We're always evolving our menu with our customers in mind to keep things fresh and exciting.' The changes come as the chain brings back several fan favourites, including the Big Tasty and Big Tasty with Bacon until mid-September, though these are only available in East Anglia. The Chicken Big Mac is also returning nationwide except for East Anglia and Tyne & Tees.
Other returning items include Spicy Chicken McNuggets with Spicy Chilli Dip, the Fajita Chicken One wrap, Chilli Cheese Bites and the Milky Way McFlurry. These are available across the UK for a limited time.
