A man has expressed his shock after spending £58.70 on snacks and drinks at a WHSmith store in Gatwick Airport. Carmie Sellitto documented his purchases in an Instagram video ahead of an 18-hour flight, questioning why the prices were so high.
Among the items he bought were a packet of dried mangoes for £6, a large bag of Haribo Tangfastics for £5, and a pack of Smints. He also picked up a watermelon-flavoured Push Pop and a Reese's White Cup, noting that giant packs of Mentos mints and Chupa Chups lollipops were priced at £10 and £14 respectively.
For drinks, Sellitto took advantage of a three-for-two offer on Actiph Water bottles, and also bought a strawberry-flavoured Vitamin Well. He added reduced packets of Cheez-Its and 20%-off Cadbury Dairy Milk Biscoff bars to his basket, along with Snack a Jacks, Proper Popcorn, and a bar of Cadbury & More Nutty Praline Crisp.
After checking out at the self-service till, Sellitto revealed the total: £58.70. He asked his followers if they thought it was worth it, saying he could not believe how much he had spent. The video drew comments from Instagram users, with one joking it might be cheaper to fly first class, while another suggested bringing own snacks or opting for a Boots meal deal.
